Apple Pay is not something that needs any introduction. We all know that we can use this service for P2P (peer-to-peer) cash transactions. But there are times when we cannot use this service and there can be any reason for that. So, if you too are facing this issue, this article is for you.
Apply has a policy that the bank they are using for payments is Green Dot Bank and they need all the Apple Pay customers to verify their information before they start using this service. This verification is required to avoid any fraudulent activity in your bank account and also to make sure that they meet all the financial compliance set up by the US govt.
Although sometimes you are not asked to verify your information by your bank or Apple Pay, then you need not worry about it, however, if you get a prompt about verification, you will need to verify it and you need to follow these steps to verify it.
How to Verify a Card for Apple Pay without Calling?
- Go to settings
- Tap on the button Wallet and Apple Pay
- Tap on Apple Pay Cash
- At the bottom, you will find the button Verify
- Hit Continue to start again
- On the current page, you will find some spaces where you can fill in some information. Follow the instructions to fill them.
- Enter your complete name in the first blank
- Put your address in the second space, although it is self-explanatory, so you will not face any issues.
- Next, enter your SSN (Social Security Number) and your DOB (Date of Birth).
- After entering all your information, hit next, if the information provided by you is correct, you will be taken to the home page.
Even if the information that you supplied doesn’t match with the records as per the government date, Apple will still allow you to use its information with the exchange of some additional information of yours.
If you still want to establish your identity as a U.S. citizen or resident of any state or whatever identity you want to establish, you need to provide supportive documents for this including a passport, driver’s license, or any other ID certified by the state.
If you do not verify your identity by providing the above-given documents, you can still do transactions within the limit of $500. However, if you want to do bigger transactions than this amount then you will need to go through this verification.
Why is a Call Required for Verification?
Banks use various ways to verify your bank details and Apple Pay is no different. Banks send OTP or mail you to verify your identity before they let you do any transaction.
You also need to verify your debit or credit card details before you use them regularly.
For verifying all this information, you need to go to the Passbook on your apple device.
Sometimes it may happen that you will not receive any OTP for verification, and in that situation, you need not panic because there is the possibility that your bank doesn’t have a phone number or email id. In that case, you would need to call your bank to verify your details.
Even after adding your correct contact details, you will still not receive any OTP then you need to get in touch with your bank to ask the reason for not receiving OTP. you need to get it resolved as soon as possible because without OTP many transactions will be stuck.
Final Thoughts
That’s all..!!
The overall reason for getting your details verified is to give you an extra layer of security because in today’s information era, information is the real wealth and we must secure it. And Apple is known for its safety and security of data.
