10 Things You shouldn’t Neglect In and Out of Your Blog

 

After my last post on free dofollow backlinks, I come up with the new post comprising the most crucial things for a blog. They may look simple but are very important to a blog or any website.

In this post, I would talk about 10 important points that you should take care every time because it’s related to your blog’s SEO. If you won’t put them into consideration, then there are chances of getting penalized by the Google.

The point I will talk on throughout this post is “anchor text over optimization”. You would also get some extra ingredients that will help you to save your blog from the Google’s penalty.

This post is especially for the new bloggers who are rashly building backlinks without having proper knowledge about the most crucial factors of it.

Important info: After a Google penalty, you blog or site may get deindexed from the Google search engine results and all your efforts may go waste.

Things to Be Controlled Inside the Blog

First we talk about the things that you can control on your blog.

1. Keyword Stuffing:

Keyword stuffing is the old school technique to rank high in the Google SERP. Earlier, people used to include the keywords several times in a post. It used to give signal to the Google that the post is most relevant to the searched query whether the post isn’t offering the relevant information.

However, today keyword stuffing isn’t a good practice to optimize a blog post. Some people may claim that they have seen other people to stuffing the content with keywords, and getting ranked. It may possible until they caught by the Google. Once the Google smells it, there would be no change of escape.

2. Long Domains:

Many bloggers under the influence of keyword rich domain choose a long domain that doesn’t look natural. E.g. searchengineoptimizationtechniques.com.

In my opinion, it’s worse domain ever. I don’t think if you don’t have a keyword domain then it will stop you from the ranking. There is enough proof available that many websites which are ranking higher than the domains having keywords.

Just see in the above screenshot. For the keyword “title generator”, the Site “Title-generator.com” is not showing at the Top position, not even in the 3 top positions.

So, stop to concentrate on the keyword rich domain, always go for the brandable domain name for your website or blog.

3. Internal links anchor text:

Inner links anchor text optimization is significant to your blog. It should be well optimized. Excessively using the same anchor text may help Google to identify your site for anchor text penalty. A wide array of variants in the internal links anchor text is a good sign.

4. Alt text Over optimization:

The marketers recommend using the keyword in the ALT text along with the title of the images. It’s a right practice in the context of on-site SEO. However, overloading the images with the keywords may raise Google penalty. Use the keywords naturally.

What do I Need to follow to optimize images?

Use the keyword in the main image.

For other images (e.g. screenshots) use the title name that reveals what the image is all about and use the Title name in the alt text.

The best way to solve this issue is to go to any blog which is popular in your niche and find any how to post there.

How-to’ posts consist of several images. You just right click on few images and copy their URLs. Paste all the URLs in a notepad file and observe the variation in the names.

5. Title and Headers

Title and Headers

Title and headers are most important from the SEO perspective. The page title and the post title must have your targeted keyword.

Create the titles that look natural, like the following post title–

I have seen people using all the keywords in the Title. They are just optimizing the Titles for the Search engines, not caring for their readers.

Let’s have an example.

Suppose, a person wrote a post on the SEO and used the following keywords:

Primary Keyword:

What is seo?

Secondary Keywords:

  • Seo Tutorial
  • Seo techniques
  • Seo tips

Now it’s the time to create a title. Here, some people being affected by the use of the keyword in Title recommendation will do keyword stuffing in the Title, like in this way.

The title will show in the Google SERP and isn’t looking natural. Google recommends – look natural every time. We just filled keywords in the title and expect to rank through it. How could it be possible????

Think about it…

This kind of title creation doesn’t give a positive signal to the Google.

Same thing applies on the headers. The headers help in breaking the post into small parts to increase the readability. So, the headers should be relevant to the content. Don’t over-optimize them too.

Just to follow the on-page SEO guidelines, you shouldn’t write the headers contrary to the readers’ intent.

6. Bold Text:

Having lots of bold keywords in the content is now old practice. This is not going to get benefits you in the ranking. Just bold the text which you want to highlight in reader’s eyes.

7. Footer links:

Are you sharing the footer links from your blog? If yes, you should be aware of one thing.

Footer presents in the all the posts and pages in your blog. If you are sharing footer links from your blog, then your all posts and pages pass their link juice to the linked sites. This way you are degrading your blog.

That isn’t a good SEO practice to place a few dozens of links on the footer. If these links are pointing to non-related sites, this clearly shows that you are doing it intentionally. You must avoid it. The footer should be filled with the resources of your own blog.

Things to Be Controlled Outside the Blog

Some of your activities outside of your blog should be controlled for better seo.

8. Overusing Anchor text Out of the Blog

Are you a fan of exact match anchor text? If yes, it’s a trouble-inviting scenario for your blog. Instead, having variation in the anchor text is much more beneficial for your blog’ link profile. It will help you to rank for the different keywords. Using the exact anchor text many times can get your blog penalized.

9. Mass link-building:

I usually comment on many blogs, and total comments count at the end of the week remains 50 around. It is natural and don’t harm my blog. But using the bulk commenting tools, rewriters, bulk submitter and alike tools to build thousands of backlinks a day may prove dangerous to your blog. The faster you build spam links and sooner invite the penalty to your blog.

10.Links from Copy Content

It must be degraded soon. Links from 20 spun articles to your blog is not a good sign, better to build quality backlinks. A single link from an authority site is equal to the 100 links from the spun articles.

    I really appreciate some of those onsite SEO tips as I so seldom pay attention to them as I don’t blog for the search engines but for my list

    However I am going to definitely start to optimize my images better as I love images and they are seldom optimized so I am told you can use them for pretty easy ranking. We’ll see

  4. Hey Nikhil, long domains hurt silently. Unless it’s the real requirement for a business profile, the domain should be as small as possible. Not to forget, these names are easy to remember and can become branded if everything is done in a right manner. Thanks for sharing all these tips. 🙂
